A special election for the West Delaware County Community School District in the Counties of Delaware and Buchanan, State of Iowa, will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Pre-Election Day voter registration, for this election, will close Monday, August 25, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. It is highly recommended that those persons wishing to vote in this election pre-register on or before the August 25th deadline. Eligible persons have the right to register to vote and cast a ballot on Election Day if they are able to provide proof of both their identity and residency at the polls. Please bring a valid and current photo ID which has an expiration date. If the address on your ID is not current, you will need to prove residency. The following documents can be used as proof of residency if they contain your name and current address, and are current within 45 days: Residential lease, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document, or a property tax statement (current within 45 days of final payment date).
Pre-registered voters are now required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered (such as voters registering on Election Day, and voters changing precincts), must also provide proof of residence. Voters who are unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required), may have their identities attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, or have the right to cast a provisional ballot. Election Day registrant attesters must also provide an approved form of identification. To request an absentee ballot by mail for this election, use the official form available at the Delaware County Auditor’s Office, Delaware County’s website at https://delawarecountyelections.iowa.gov/, or the Secretary of State’s website at https://sos.iowa.gov/voters/absentee-voting, and mail it to the Delaware County Commissioner of Elections, 301 E. Main St., Room 210, Manchester, Iowa 52057. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Monday, August 25, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. In person absentee voting is available at the Delaware County Auditor’s Office thru 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The precincts and polling locations in Delaware County for the West Delaware County Community School District will be as follows:
Precinct #1 - Ryan City Hall Center for those residents of the West Delaware County Community School District residing within Adams Township or Hazel Green Township within Delaware County, Iowa.
Precinct #2 - Manchester Fire Station for those residents of the West Delaware County Community School District residing in Manchester Ward 1, Manchester Ward 2, and Oneida Township within Delaware County, Iowa.
Precinct #3 – Seibert Park Memorial Hall for those residents of the West Delaware County Community School District residing in Manchester Ward 3, Delaware Township, Elk Township, Honey Creek Township, Milo Township, and Prairie Township within Delaware County, Iowa.
Precinct #4 – Dundee Community Center for those residents of the West Delaware County Community School District residing in Coffins Grove Township and Richland Township within Delaware County, Iowa and Fremont Township within Buchanan County, Iowa.
All polling places designated for use in this election are accessible to persons with disabilities. Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.
