2025 City/School Election

November 4, 2025

General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.

2025 City /School Election in the County of Delaware, State of Iowa, will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pre-Election Day Voter Registration

Pre-Election Day voter registration for this election will close Monday, October 20, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.  It is highly recommended that those persons wishing to vote in this election should pre-register on or before the October 20th deadline.  

Election Day Voter Registration

If you are unsure of your polling place, Find Your Precinct/Polling Place.

Eligible persons have the right to register to vote and cast a ballot on Election Day. At your polling place,  you must prove both who you are and where you live. The best way to do this is with your valid Iowa driver’s license with your current address printed on it.

If you do not have an Iowa driver’s license, you may use a photo ID that is current, valid, and contains an expiration date. The following are acceptable IDs:

If the address on your photo ID is not your current address, you may use another document (paper or electronic format) to prove where you live if it contains your name and current address and is current within 45 days. The following are acceptable proofs of residence:

If you cannot prove who you are and where you live with the documents listed above, a registered voter from your precinct may attest for you. Both you and the attester will be required to sign an oath swearing the statements being made are true.

Falsely attesting or being attested for is registration fraud. It is a class “D” felony and is punishable by a fine of up to $10,245 and up to 5 years in prison.

Absentee Voting by Mail

Registered voters may request an absentee ballot to be sent to them by mail. You must complete an absentee ballot request form and return the original, signed form to the Delaware County Auditor. The request form does not need to be witnessed or notarized. A written application for a mailed absentee ballot must be received by the voter's County Auditor no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025.

Someone who will be 18 years old by the date of an upcoming election may request an absentee ballot if he or she is pre-registered to vote.

In order to receive an absentee ballot, a registered voter MUST provide the following necessary information:

All voters are encouraged to provide their phone number and/or email address in the event their County Auditor needs to confirm any information on the request form.

 

Absentee voting In-person 

You may cast an absentee ballot in person.  This will be available at the Delaware County Auditor’s Office begining Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. through Monday, November 3, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.   You must vote your absentee ballot at the auditor's office. You cannot take the ballot home with you.  In-person absentee voting is not available on election day at the auditor's office.  If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Delaware County Auditor’s Office at 563-927-4701.

Curbside Absentee voting 

 If you are unable to enter the building where the polling place is located because of disability, the auditor's office staff, will take a ballot and election supplies outside to the voter. The voter may then mark the ballot in the voter’s vehicle. The voter must sign the Affidavit of Voter Requesting Assistance. Curbside absentee voting is available at the Delaware County Courthouse begining Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. through  Monday, November 3, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. as well. Please contact the Delaware County Auditor's Office at 563-927-4701 if you would like to vote curbside.
